About: Challenges

One of the definitions of challenge is: • a task or situation that tests someone's abilities.  Hmmm yup, that defines my life about now!

So it's been over a month that I have been in this cast and boy oh boy is it challenging.  Everything is a task, even one so simple as making a cup of coffee.  My ability to have patience, and to rely on others has truly been tested.  I thank the Higher Power for my fiance who has stepped in and basically taken over the household chores, to include dr. visits for the girls, cooking, grocery shopping, laundry etc.  I am ever thankful for my girls who have had a challenging time helping me to get this or get that, Bry even makes sure my hair is "groomed" every day, Mojo makes sure I have homemade waffles when I "need" them.  I have been trudging along, thinking of the day when I will be able to "keep it moving" independently.

Normally, the challenge in my life is finding time to craft, now it is trying to reach my ribbons on the top shelf, getting the paper trimmer across the room etc.  Well, this weekend I configured my little craft table near my bed so I could at least play with my paper, glue and scissors.  I completed this card for a challenge online.  Hope ya like!

About: OOUUUUUCH!!

So on a cold freezing February Thursday evening, the ice and gravity conspired against me and I broke my fibula, and ankle.  Painful?  Does a scrapper drool over glitter?  Yup and yupper.  So now my life is totally turned into a figure 8.  A month later and I still can't believe it.
The "pic" in the picture frame was a piece of the paper used for bottom drawer & a shoe rub on.

But my buddy Rosey keeps me focused.  I needed to finish three bureaus for her.  Forget breakfast in bed, I was scrappin' in bed heehee.  I tried the brads for drawer pulls.  I was always worried about it pulling apart, so what I did was hot glue the legs inside the drawers. Fairly easy!

This one was for a wedding.  I didn't think to take pics but in the top left drawer were: Something old,  and something new.  In the top right drawer I put something borrowed ( a miniature pearl necklace) and something blue.  In the bottom drawer I put a miniature bouquet, it was fun to make.

Next up was another Hello Kitty.  The Hello Kitty was actually from a Valentine.  I cut out the image and covered the heart with the fabric flower.  Lots of pink, just what Rosey ordered!

Well, off to knit on my Knifty Knitter loom.  Surgery is on Tuesday so I will try post at least once more before then.  If I finish the scarf I am making for Andre I will post pics.  Later days!

About: Time Flies

"Lost time is never found again" Benjamin Franklin

Me n Mami Miriam April 25, 2009
The last time I spent time with Mami Miriam was April 25, 2009 at her daughter Ruthi's house. We talked about a lot of things, especially about my oldest daughter's Sweet 16 dress. See, Mami Miriam had retired from the whole grand ball gown making thing. But she said she would make Bry's dress as her last hurrah. As I got off the bus she shouted to me "Ine' call me so we can go buy the fabric for Bryanna's dress..." "I will Mami, bendicion."
I wasn't really worried about it though. We still had almost two years before Bryanna's party. I have time. I have time, I have time...
She always had containers full of goodies for sewing. This is mine, I feel like a kid when I look at it, heehee
Bryanna's Sweet 16 was almost 2 weeks ago. Yup she looked beautiful, but the funny thing is that remembered the conversation as well. She remembered standing in front of Mami Miriam as she figured out how much fabric would be needed, she remembered her asking "And what colors Bryanna?"

As I looked around at the guests of the Sweet 16 I wondered who would Bryanna sit and talk with when she gets older? Who will she seek counsel from? Her Godmother Vonchie, took a 30 hour train "experience" from Southern Illinois to be here for her special day.

Ms. Schannon was right along with her. Titi Vanessa flew up from Florida scant hours before and flew out a few hours later. Of course my mom aka Wella, and Titi Baby and their Cuz Vane' were there. I thank the Higher Power we have been blessed with these wonderful women that will be in Bryanna and Mojo's life. My counsel to my girls? Don't waste time, it truly flies. Make that call when you can, don't put it off.
With that I get back to your regularly scheduled blog. I just couldn't go on without talking a little about the woman that encouraged the love of colors and beads and baubles in me. Bendicion Mami Miriam!
